Playing melee in Combat Arms is fun for some players, and a pain in the proverbial for others. Whether it’s the fact that kills are harder in melee, or simply trying to stay alive that takes considerable effort, some players just have trouble with melee.

Well we are here to change that with these handy tips and tactics that you can use straight away, in places like Junk Flea, Death Room, and even Rattlesnake.

Head Shots

Headshots are best used against novices, who tend to just charge you directly. A nice slash for the brain or stab in the eye takes care of them nicely. Trying to make a headshot on a moving target though is much harder and will definitely take some practice.

Crouching

When fighting one against one, crouching is an effective technique to throw your opponent off balance. This is particularly true when you are both running around in circles. Simply crouch down and wait for them to run towards you. Please note though, only try this against a single enemy, as crouching down in the middle of a “feeding frenzy” is only going to get you quickly killed.

Jumping

This takes more skill than crouching, but experienced players can often both jump and make headshots simultaneously. Even if you are not at that level of skill, jumping around confuses your opponent, often times meaning that their strikes against you are only ending up hitting your legs.

Spamming

This is a common technique, which simply involves holding down your left mouse button. Works best with a standard melee weapon like the M9.

Standoff

The standoff is performed by backing away from your opponent while still facing them. With inexperienced players, this acts as a catalyst for them to charge you. Get ready to headshot them.

Mini-flanking

This techniques requires at least another team member to work effectively. Basically, both of you go towards your enemy from opposite sides. This forces him to attack either one of you. Then simply dispatch him from behind.

Preying

When confronted with large multi-enemy/friendly brawls, don’t engage, and instead wait at the edge of the fight until one of them separates to rest. Then sneak up and hit them from behind.

Backstab

In a confined space, such on the bridge in Kill Creek, sneak up on your enemy from behind and stab them real good. You could even take down an entire group of enemies before they even knew what hit them.

Weaponry Choice

You can purchase better and varied weapons from the Black Market, that will improve your chances at melee. There are both faster weapons, or longer ranged ones.

Fast weapons are preferable for less experienced or newbie players, as they can be more easily spammed. Such weapons include the default M9, Sickle, M11, and Tracker Knife.

Longer range weapons can strike from further away, but are slower. They are extremely deadly in the right hands. Such weapons include the Bowie Knife, Kukri, Tomahawk, Ninjato, Dom Pedro Sword, Survival Machete and Machete. The largest ranged weapon is the Dom Pedro Sword.

Combat Arms Guide To Saving Your GP

January 21st, 2012 | Posted by admin in Guides - (0 Comments)

If you are having trouble getting more GP after buying items, then this guide will surely help. This guide is mainly for those who play for free, and don’t use NX.

Let’s begin!

Use Your Default Weapon

When you have absolutely no GP, the M16 is your friend. True, it is not as great as many other weapons (okay, every other weapon), but when you don’t have a choice, needs must! With practice, you can actually become quite proficient at it.

It is still a good idea to keep the M16 with you at all times, just as a backup. Even if you have a better weapon, you may run out of bullets so having the default gun with you is smart.

Don’t Leave Games Early

Leaving in them middle of a game does not earn you any GP, so just stick it out til the end. Even if you are getting your butt kicked, man up, and think of better strategies. Keep away from direct combat and instead try and trick them by watching your opponent’s habits. Most people tend to get cocky when they are winning, so use this element of surprise.

Choose Your Games Carefully

Pick games that finish quickly and provide lots of experience. You can join mid-game to make it easier to finish. Avoid Capture The Flag in large areas and Desert Thunder Fireteam. Capture The Flag is best in small areas like Junk Flea and Death Room.

Also if you are willing, play Quarantine Regen as either a human or zombie to get fast experience. Don’t use your GP while playing, but instead work in teams to complete your objectives.

Don’t Waste GP On Luxuries

Sure, luxuries are great and fun, but saving GP and buying luxuries do not go hand-in-hand. Luxuries include such things as camos, head gear, silencers, face gear, sidearms, multiple weapons etc.

Choose Specific Servers

Some servers give more GP and EXP than other servers. We recommend you try Echo, or if you are a higher level, Delta server.

The Golden Strategy

This is the golden strategy of saving money. This is for people who have a regular playing schedule, and buy weapons for 1 day. Make a schedule for 2 days, and start playing later on the first day than the second day.

Say if you play for 2 hours a day, and you usually play at around 8 PM, then for the first day of your schedule, start at 9 PM and buy the weapons and gears you want. On the next day you start at 7 PM, and play until your weapons expires. This way you are using weapons for 2 days at the price of 1 day. It is the most efficient strategy of gaining money, and your GP will boom up sky high real fast.

A Beginner’s Guide to Combat Arms

January 21st, 2012 | Posted by admin in Guides - (0 Comments)

Intro to Combat Arms

When you first start Combat Arms, it may be a little intimidating. This quick guide will help you to get started, and give a brief run-down of what to expect.

First and foremost, make sure you have:

  • Downloaded the game.
  • Understand that you are new, and to take it easy at first. Don’t go in guns blazing and peeve people off.
  • Now get pumped, and play the game!

Where To Start Playing Combat Arms

Stick to the servers that are for newbies (you). The reason you want to start on a newbie server such as Jackson, is because they are rank capped to Private, so you won’t have to go up against higher level players like Captains. Don’t worry, you will have a chance to fight and destroy them later.

What To Play

It is best to play Elimination before trying out more tactical objectives like Capture the Flag. This is because you will have unlimited respawns so you can get used to the game.

Go with the smaller maps like Junk Flea, Death Room, and Cold Seed.

Which Weaponry To Use

Primary Weapon

The default weapon you are given is an M16A3 assault rifle. It does the job, goes “bang bang”, but is obviously not the most powerful weapon in the game. Get accustomed to using this weapon, because once you are good at it, pretty much every other weapon in the game will be easy for you to master. The M16 is also one of the best guns for headshots. Everybody loves a headshot.

Be sure to try out other types of weapons, like various assault rifles. You will be using them for a lot of the game, so get used to them. We recommend these assault rifles: M4A1, K2, MK-16 SCAR-L.

Submachine guns are great for close quarter combat work. We recommend these submachine guns: MP5A4, UMP, K1A, K7.

Sniper rifles are much harder to master as there are many things to consider when sniping from a far distance. Practice makes perfect though.

Secondary Weapons

Your sidearm will be rarely used, so no need to get anything too extravagant. Just stay with the M92FS. If you must have a better pistol though (just to look cooler), then try the USP, the G23, or the M1911 MEU.

Melee Weapons

A nice big knife is always handy to have. Keep it sharp, fellas.

Combat Arms Black Market – Shady Business

January 21st, 2012 | Posted by admin in Tips - (0 Comments)

The notorious Black Market in Combat Arms is a shop where users can purchase exclusive gear to differentiate themselves from others. This is because those with Black Market items are easily distinguishable from normal items due to their exclusiveness. Many of the Black Market items also have tactical advantage over the normal ones.

Unlike GP, which is currency that is earned in-game, Black Market equipment can only be purchased with NX currency, which have to be paid for with real life money.

Some of the items available include Vests and Uniforms, Weaponry, Mercenaries, Clan Emblems, and more.

You can be any rank to buy Black Market things. There are some overly powerful weapons which will give you an almost unfair advantage over regular players. This can be seen as either a good thing, or bad thing, depending whether you have the more powerful weapon.

Basically Nexon are rewarding those who shell out real dosh, by giving them more power. This makes sense though, as it is how they make their money. Though it has led to the phrase “Free to play, pay to win” becoming a common catch-cry among users.

Combat Arms – What Is This Game?

January 20th, 2012 | Posted by admin in Tips - (0 Comments)

Combat Arms is a game created by a South Korean development team called Doobic Studios, but published by Nexon. It is a completely free-to-play, online multiplayer FPS (first-person shooter). The game is set in the modern times and features intense battle and action. It is only available on PC (Windows).

Gameplay and Development

The gameplay is quite similar to other first-person shooters like Counter-Strike and Call of Duty. There are various modes that you can play, such as Capture The Flag, One Man Army, Elimination, Bombing Run, Hired Guns and more.

The game uses military ranks that are achieved by completing objectives and gaining experience. You can gain experience in Combat Arms by killing people and completing set tasks.

There is also an in-game money system called Gear Points which can be used to purchase equipment, weaponry and accessories. Using real money is possible through the official Black Market. These items however look somewhat different to the same items that are purchased with Gear Points.

There are currently over 6,000,000 registered players in Combat Arms. As such, there are plenty of clans that one can join to enhance the gaming experience.

The game is constantly updated with new maps, weapons and skins for your character.
